Lemonade Day

Who doesn't love a good celebration? A reason to decorate... to find the perfect outfit and get dressed up... to seek out the perfect recipient gift, or hostess gift... to let loose and feel silly... to see friends we might not have seen in a while.

Celebrations give us a feeling of joy, yet... how often do we do it? Major holidays... Birthdays...Maybe an anniversary or graduation or promotion here and there. But that's it.

You guys... Life is crazy. Messy houses, sick kids, endless appointments, deadlines, unexpected stresses... the list goes on and on. So, when we get a chance to celebrate something, we welcome it with open arms! As I'm writing this, on May 1st, it's Lemonade Day. Did you know May 1st is Lemonade Day?!?

It's also Batman Day, Lei Day, and Mother Goose Day.

My kids and I have made a fun tradition of discovering silly, maybe not-so-well-known, holidays and celebrating as often as we can. There's always something to celebrate! For instance... Just in the month of May, you can celebrate everything from Lemonade to Chocolate Chip Cookies (May 15th) to Taffy (23rd) to Nutty Fudge (12th) to Hostess Cupcakes (11th) and Reese's (18th). In case you need something with a little more oomph (*wink*) than Lemonade, the month of May celebrates Moscatos (9th), Mimosas (16th), and Mint Juleps (30th). And if all of this sounds like a lot of calories... May 6th is no diet day, and May 11th is "eat what you want" day! Then work it all off on Chicken Dance Day (14th), World Lindy Hop Day(26th), or National Polka Day (28th).

Like I said, there's always something to celebrate! So next time you're feeling down in the dumps or just want to put a little pep in your step... try celebrating something silly. It's guaranteed to turn your day around... here's looking at you, May 24th (International Tiara Day).

So, besides the well known days in May that everyone knows about (Mother's Day on May 8th, Cinco De Mayo on May 5th, and Memorial Day on May 30th) I'm including a list of fun holidays celebrated in the month of May:
